Does anyone know how to stop a hammock from swinging. I've attached mine to furler and mast. However, whilst on anchor I still swing violently. Will swivels help?

Maybe the boat is moving and the hammock is stationary.

Can you try tying it out tighter? Maybe you've got some harmonic thing going on with the rate of hammock swing and rate of boat rolling. Change the hammock periodicity and maybe it'll quit feeding off the boat's roll.

I one had one of the best hours of my life on a hammock that wouldn't stop swinging... I'll endorse MysticGringo's solution, get someone to share it with you.

If after evaluating the above reasons not to stop the swinging...
you still do want it to stop, try attaching a appropriate sized
bungy from hammock to toe rail/life line.

Since you describe the hammock rigged fore-and-aft, the swinging, obviously, can be attributed to the rolling of the boat. Can you rig the hammock athwart-ships, to minimize the hammock's response to rolling?

If not, what can you do to minimize the yacht's rolling? Flopper-stopper type device, maybe, then rig a preventer on the hammock as hugosalt, above, suggests.

Note: you post that you've attached the (presumably toe of the) hammock to the "furler." Be careful if you're attaching to the foil: the sheer (sideways) pressure of the fully-loaded hammock could deform, i.e., bend, the foil, and that's bad news.

My son received a hammock as a gift and was excited to try it. Both times he had the same results as you did. He couldn't sleep in it at all. We tried to tie it off to the side but then it was swing-bonk to a stop-swing-bonk. That is on a cat with a sheltered anchorage. One thing that I think would help is to have spreaders on the hammock and have the distance between the ends as close as possible.

My daughter found the stack pack to be her favorite place for a camp out. Snug as a bug.

They're supposed to swing. If you don't want it to swing, you buy a bedframe and stretch the hammaock out and turn it into a bedframe.

Had the same issue. Simply lowered the hammocks so our bottoms lightly touch the deck. Still very comfortable and no swing.

Huh, that's what they do... To stop it I guess you could reach out and hold on the something. Maybe tie a line around your middle and tie it off to one side..Be sure to preset it off to one side so you don't oscillate around the middle, like a sailboat standing up right in a quartering swell....\\Better yet maybe you need a bean bag chair instead of a hammock...

Most newer boats (and quite a few older ones) are equipped with a hammock stabilization device (also known as a "hammock device to eliminate continual kinetics", or H-DECK). To engage the feature, simply lower the attachment points of the hammock until the h-DECK contacts the hammock and prevents it from swinging. The downfall of the h-DECK is that is seems to reduce the comfort of the hammock, but some prefer the feeling.

Some rig a riding sail to minimize the swinging. Others deploy a small drogue over the side. However, for safety reasons attach these to the hammock and not your body.
