Grill Fail

Anyone had this happen to them? I went to fire up the West Marine propane grill, but when I looked underneath to install the regulator, there was no fitting! Must have unscrewed itself.

The regulator on my magma grill fell off while sailing a couple weeks ago

I just looked on their website and they have no grills according to them.

That is common occurrence with Magma grills.

That is why a lot of cruisers are going with Weber Q1200 grills on there boat.

What mounts did you use for your railing attachment of the grill?

Used the Magma Dual Extended Horizontal Round Rail Mounts $90.
This mounting makes it rock solid on the hand rail.

I didn't even think of a non-marine grill. I had a Weber Q at home and liked it (until it died) but it wasn't very portable. I bought a grill called the "O-grill" that is similar to the Weber but more portable. We really like it. Takes slightly longer to cook than the Weber (spreads the heat out a little more) but other than that it's been great.

I can't see how these would do well left out in a marine environment. Or do you folks take them in after use?

Weber Q is great. I needed SS strap bent 7's to support small Al table. (and grease catcher) Slots to hose clamp Q's legs .Any bbq will eventually need a welder's tip wire file to clean the fire tube holes. Side table replaced with a crab/corn/clam unit Not concerned about being left out. 20 lb bottle in dingy on davits was safe installation.

yes, happened to me years ago. It was a costly mistake, but has not happened since because I remove the regulator and the bent fitting after each use.

I always took my regulator off, but I assumed that elbow just swiveled. Now I know better.

My Magma grill has been holding up like new.

The regulator is always removed and stored in the custom bag I designed and fabricated. The grill is always covered w/ the custom cover I designed and fabricated.

FWIW, this shows the correct pronunciation for Magma.
