dingy repair

I am wondering if the PVC glue that you purchase at home depot
is the same or will work on a pvc inflatable ( I am gluing the weaver snap davit pads on.) the home depot variety is for pvc pipe. anyone had any experience with that ?
the glue purchased at west marine is very expensive and comes in small containers.

Re: dingy repair

As I recall it dosen't work well. Not really designed for all the flexing. The two part glue like that sold by Weaver would be better (the best is the Zodiac two part but it's really expensive) There are also less expensive single parts like Shore Adhesive and Aqua seal but with the pressure you get loaded on weaver Davits I think your better off with more expensive glue.

Re: dingy repair

Thanks for the information. I hadn't thought of the flexing. to do a really thorough job it requires scuffing cleaning with mec or acetone several times and several thin coats of glue. and then lots of pressure. I wouldn't want to take a chance I will get the expensive glue it is cheaper in the long run.

It's not designed for use with plasticized PVC.

Don't buy your adhesive from West Marine, talk to an inflatable boat dealer...
