Dinghy Running Lights

Does anybody have any suggestions for running lights for an inflatable with 12 volts available?
I have seen a tri color light mounted on the engine cover.
Thanks in advance.

Denny and Diane,
Thanks for the info about the running lights.

I would like to also find out if anyone has wired up 12 volt running lights on a small (10" +or-) inflatable using an onboard battery system and not having any fixed structures to mount to, like an arch or pedestal. It seems that I have seen a tricolor light mounted on the OB cover, just looking for ideas.
thanks,

Robert

Just a couple of thoughts..

On the battery one, I found the suction cups do not hold and on a day sailor used the "stud mount" where you affix permanently the plate then use a cotter pin to insert the light when wanting to use it...except for the problem of the batteries, that arrangement worked fine..

In the onboard battery, I don't have experience in this but others might...would a gel cel motorcycle/jet ski battery work? (they are small and can be inverted with no acid issues).

I use the aqua signal on an Avon ru285. The mount for the white aft light is glued with epoxy on the top of the motor and the light can be removed by removing a pin. The forward light sits on an oak rod that fits into bracket glued too the tube just inside the bow. An oak dowel supprts it about three feet above the boat.

The reason that I chose the aqua signal was that it used AA batteries, as does my backup GPS, handheld VHF, camera... I added an AA charger, hardwired into my 12 volt system (a freebee thans to my old Ray O Vac rep).
