Dinghy Oarlocks

The Westmarine dingy we purchased (an Avon ) came without oar locks. Wanting to use it without the outboard and the supplied paddles being useless, we began looking for locks we could glue on. The only type we could find in Mexico were the type used on ABB dingys. They have a furrel that doesn't accomodate standard oar locks. The oar lock shaft that fits this type has a notched groove at the lower end that twists and locks into the furrel. Our problem now is to find the part of the oar lock that fits on the oar. We have seen them in the catalogue for a Caribean supplier but no were else. Any help.

AVON OARLOCKS

The Avon hard rubber oarlocks work great and don't need any special oar. Chafe collars are reccomended but not necessary. Those are the ones that work like thole pins, a large piece of hard rubber with a puka for the oars. Virtually nothing to break like the pin type oarlocks. Should be easy to glue on with 5200.

The oarlocks I bought are already installed with hypalon cement. They are hard robber with a brass insert. The bottom end of the insert is keyed to retain the part of the oarlock attached by a ring to the oar. I need to find a supplier for this part ( the ring and pin on the oar, keyed to mate the part glued to the dingy.
