Buying a New 2-Stroke Outboard in the Bahamas

Has anyone purchased a new 2-stroke outboard in the Bahamas? I know in years past you could get some great deals in Nassau, and was wondering if someone out there has any first hand experience with this. We are looking for a 15 hp 2-stroke. A Yamaha would be great, but really, any good quality outboard, at the right price, is what we are looking for. Any info would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Will

You can get a 15hp Yamaha 2 stroke in Nassau for $2150. It comes in a box with tank etc. Or you can pay $2300 for one in Georgetown and they will install it on your dink and the gear oil change and check-up after the break-in is included. I replaced my old 15 with a new one last season. In Nassau it's cash in Georgetown they'll take a credit card.

Rick,

Thanks so much. Just what I was hoping to hear. Georgetown sounds like the plan. See ya there.

Cheers,
Will

Re: Buying a New 2-stroke Outboard in the Bahamas

I was told that the Yamaha importer is now in Abaco, and that you can get the best price if you go there. When they ship to other dealers everybody has to add their bit of profit.
Don't know if it's worth a special trip, but if you feel like going to the Abacos anyway .....
You might also want to check on availability ahead of time at whichever location you choose.

Yamaha lists two Distributors in the Bahamas:
Harbourside Marine Limited - Nassau, New Providence
Bay Breeze Marina & Storage Ltd. - Marsh Harbour, Abaco
Distributors - Consumer Products | YAMAHA MOTOR
