Best way to secure a dinghy and outboard

Here in the Windward Islands we have been experiencing a growing number of dinghy and engine thefts. In the past, I had an old dinghy that really showed its’ age. Probably no-one wanted it. Now I have a new dinghy and a new engine. I am not going to put patches all over it to make it look old so would like to know:
How do you secure the dinghy and engine so that it is less likely to be taken? Pictures might help in the illustration if you have time.
