Atmospheric Water Generators

Came across a site advertising atmospheric water generators and wondered if anyone has looked into this technology for marine applications? I remember reading about it a few years ago and it seemed in an infant stage and interesting but is it maybe too energy consuming, even with solar? Any thoughts? It would be cool, especially here in the humid PNW to generate water from the air...

Here is the website: Technology : Water Filtration Systems : Reverse Osmosis Water | EcoloBlue? Life & Energy

Re: Atmospheric Water Generators

Their system is using a refrigeration compressor to condense water onto the evaporator, then filters and RO. Seems RO alone would use less power then what they propose, on a boat anyway. The System proposed would work on land but is a little bit inefficient to be of use on a boat.

The unit looks to make about .33 gallons per hour at 280 watts per hour (840 watts per gallon). In one day you'll make 8 gallons and use 6 kW (476 amps at 12.5V) of power to make that 8 gallons max, maybe less water if the humidity is low . Far far easier to use a standard water maker that makes 20 gallons per hour for about 100 watts per gallon.

Their ECO water thingy really is pretty inefficient. So if your on land just put in a little 200 psig RO system with filters and UV. It would in theory be great in the desert, except the desert air is really low in humidity.
