Anyone Have Experience With This Pump

Fast Flow Pumps - Bilge Pump

interessting concept- no wear and tear and serves as a ventilation blower when not pumping-- costly though-- anyone have an opinion?

Have seen this before and the first thing that springs to mind is that the shaft needs to be turning, around 2000 rpm, and this is going to drive my boat at approx 6 knots.
Not sure that is what I would want if I had a 4 inch hole in the hull !
Just my take on it.

Some simple math... Our transmission is 2:1 so I would have to run my engine at 4,000 RPM to get 2,000 RPM at the shaft. Now I don't know about you but if my boat is sinking the last thing I want to do is have the propeller turning at redline engine RPMs. We would have to tie up a crew member to steer the boat while it is lumbering along at max throttle. My opinion is these things don't offer as much benefit as the marketing promises.

There are a ton of threads here. Search for de-watering pump as a place to start.

This type of pump is hard to beat when you are taking on water faster than your little electric pumps can handle. I did an installation of a similar pump on a Maple Leaf 50 that turned out very well. If you have the space, go for it. Sure beats a sinking at sea.

Do you really want a system that requires you to put the propeller in gear at full throttle whilst doing flood damage control? There has to be a better way.

You are unnecessarily exaggerating the issues to make it sound much worse than it actually is. Full throttle is entirely unnecessary.

As for "do you want it in gear?" That is practically irrelevant when your boat is sinking beneath you. And, with the boat 1/2-full of water, I don't suppose you will be going anywhere fast.

If this pump can be removing 10's of thousands of gallons per hour, while you do flood control, you made a great investment.

Simply put, and except for the plumbing run, these pumps weigh little and take up very little space in the engine room. And they can provide high volume crash pump protection with no machinery to maintain.
