You are unnecessarily exaggerating the issues to make it sound much worse than it actually is. Full throttle is entirely unnecessary.
As for "do you want it in gear?" That is practically irrelevant when your boat is sinking beneath you. And, with the boat 1/2-full of water, I don't suppose you will be going anywhere fast.
If this pump can be removing 10's of thousands of gallons per hour, while you do flood control, you made a great investment.
Simply put, and except for the
plumbing run, these pumps weigh little and take up very little space in the engine room. And they can provide high volume crash pump protection with no machinery to maintain.
