Any problems getting a dinghy registered in Florida that was bought new in Caribbean?

We are currently cruising the eastern Caribbean and are considering purchasing a new dink while here. I remember seeing something in the past about problems getting a dinghy registered in Florida that was purchased in the Caribbean since they didn't have a proper title.

Has anybody purchased a dink from Island Water World or Budget Marine and registered it in Florida upon return?

Re: Any problems getting a dinghy registered in Florida that was bought new in Caribb

Hi guys,
I bought a new Chinese manufactured dinghy (that's a different story). If it has never been titled you will need a bill of sale and a manufacturer's certificate of origin. With those two items and a trip to the county tax collector you can get Florida title and registration. The certificate of origin might be tricky to get if the manufacturer has not dealt with states that require registration. It took a few calls to the US distributor to get mine. It was almost worth the wait to watch the tax collector deal with a Chinese document.
