So, my Yamaha 5HP had a bad impeller. Easily replaced but in doing so due to constantly being in the salt water, 3 bolts snapped as they were being loosened and the metal water tube that runs from the impeller to the engine snapped, 1/4 inch at the top from where it connects to the engine.
Has anyone replaced this part? It looks like the metal tube fits into a small seal that then attaches to the engine. To get to this it seems that about 6 bolts need to be removed and the lower drive casing will comes off.
Replace the lower casing gasket, metal water tube, water seal, any of the 6 bolts that break, and job is done???? Is it this easy? or am I dreaming. thanks Dave
Sould to be simple, once the parts are rounded up you are hafe way there. Are the three broken bolts out yet? and hopefully none of the other bolt brake you should be good, but broken bolts can turn in to a nightmare real quick good luck
Yes all of the bolts are out. They luckily broke up by the head of the bolt. I am going to the States for a few weeks so will get the parts there and bring back to Grenada. Already checked here and all would need to be ordered.
