Advice is needed

I have a Walker Bay Genesis 310 RIB with a 4 stroke Johnson 15HP.
It weighs 115 LBS

I am thinking of replacing it and here is what I am thinking -
2 Stroke 9 HP,
Or Diesel 9 HP

Thoughts?

Re: Advice is needed

Where do you plan on getting a 9 hp diesel outboard? And do you know how much the few diesel outboards that exist weigh?!?!?

Imho, get a Yamaha 15 enduro 2 stroke.

Re: Advice is needed

Yamaha 8hp and 9.9 4 stroke short shaft are 86 lbs or so it seems. That's not too bad.

ogalili...........if they are available in Canada, perhaps a road trip is in order.

You don't. You go cruising and buy one in another country.

You mean the outboard weighs 115-lbs, yes? (Our WB 310 FTD weighs 135-lbs, I think).

What are you trying to solve? Do you not have a way to carry the dink with outboard mounted? Or are you thinking about dismantling the system for winterizing and then reinstalling in Spring? Or...?

When we moved to a larger outboard, I chose the Suzuki DF15A, with the electric start option, 107-lbs. I think the pull-start-only model is something like 98-lbs or thereabouts. While less than your Yamaha, maybe not significantly less enough to make much difference if you're having to manhandle the motor...

But we can carry the dinghy with outboard mounted.... and for end of season movement to storage, I bought a boat trailer. MUCH MUCH MUCH easier than schlepping heavy stuff around separately.
