310 vs 340?

I currently have a loaner Highfield ultralight 310 with a 15 hp 2 stroke Yamaha.

I figured a way to fit a 340 dinghy on the foredeck by moving a few items.

The 340 weighs 115lbs vs 108 lbs of the 310. Would the longer dinghy give better speed due to waterline? Or just more room? Plane easier?

Please advise.

6 of one half a dozen of the other.
Is the shifting around of all the stuff worth the 78 kg extra capacity of cargo.
How are you going to store the 310 vs the 340?
Is the difference in cost worth the extra space?

Bigger is always better when it comes to dink’s or anchors.
Wish I could fit a 340. Go for it if you are doing the full-time liveaboard thingy.
(I had a 310 on previous boat, now I got a 270, downsizing. )

they don't list the 270 anymore but calculations say 2 ft shorter than the 310 that's a significant difference in wave straddle
The 310 vs 340 is one foot 10 vs 11 doesn't make that much difference in ride . Its all about the cost and cargo

Re: 310 vs 340?

It’s only $300-400 more. I failed to mention this is with a family of four.

Thanks team, I guess I will get the longer dinghy.

with that information I would say yes get the 340 you need the extra room / cargo capacity.
