15HP Evinrude Outboard

Hi Team,
Remember me, I had the seized 15HP Enduro last Sept, successfully fixed by you guys.
My friend has a 15HP Evinrude approx. 1995, the impellor failed whilst running & it overheated....steam issuing forth etc. He replaced the impellor but now it takes a lot of pulling to start, runs well for about 5 mins then cuts out & will not re-start no matter what. Also, if it has a short run all is ok but it will not re-start when still warm. He has replaced the plugs, checked & cleaned the carb. We are guessing harm was done to the cylinders but might it be anything else? Any suggestions welcome before this thing becomes a mooring!

Re: 15HP Evinrude Outboard

It's highly likely there is more damage. I picked up a plastic bag on my 5HP Yamaha... only took 30 seconds to cook. Stripped right down and the head gasket had warped and burned. I think that it's a garage job requiring a bit of on the job learning

Seriously, it's not difficult and all parts are available online if you search hard enough. Start by finding an exploded diagram of the engine.
