In trying to respond to the two different concepts running through this thread, I would suggest (as has others):

Using hard eye splices and joining with a D shackle - very easy to do blindfolded

Thanks for everyone's advice!

I am gunna learn theZepplin and the nCarick and see how they are. Might leave a little one on a lanyard so I can remember how to do them if I ever need to.

I will think about the eye splice too. I just sold a HT galvanized shackle too
