Whisker poles...

I am considering getting one or two whisker poles, to pole out my whiskers and to lift the dinghy onto the foredeck.

The company that apparently made my mast has given a good price on two fittings.

The say they should go either side of the mast, some 400mm (12.5in) up from the cabintop.

As I have never seen this arrangement would anyone care to comment on it's utility.

...Two of differant sizes for differant sails, works well. For dingy lifting an uphaul and down haul (spinaker). Check that your pole clears your baby stay if you are using it as a derik or put a fitting at the right position for it to work. Poling out two heads sails, goose winged is great fun.. : ) A single ring fitting on a sliding track on the front of the mast works fine.
