with 3-reef main, genoa, staysail and gennaker the one thing I don't have is a solid downwind solution.. and a whisker pole is on my list...spinnaker pole?..meh..not so much..

I would just like to have something to hold the clew of the genoa out and stop it from collapsing as the boat rolls heading +/- dead downwind, so I agree here with the "length is not that critical".. and for my 2c would go with a standard pole.. if you determine its the bees knees you can always go carbon later?..
