Re: Whisker pole track

A whisker pole is a whole system..mast track, car, deck chocks ...

You would be best to contact a mast maker and have them specify Your options and cost a system

Sparcraft USA is in your region

Distributors localization - Search result

Re: Whisker pole track

As lug said, you'll need a spinnaker car that are usually sized for 1 1/4" track. Assume the Lewmar is a metric quivalent of that size but best to check. Notice that you have a 42' boat which may be pushing the strength limit for 1 1/4" track and hardware. It's a cruising boat so you'll probably be okay with 1 1/4" track for a whisker pole which isn't as demanding as that required for a Spinnaker. Hopefully 1 1/4" will work as the next step up in size is a geometric increase in price for the hardware.

You need to decide if you are going to store the pole on the mast. You'll need a long enough track to do that if that is how you're going. It is way easier to deploy the pole if you go that route but you'll need additional tackle to move the pole car up and down the mast.

"Track" is just extruded aluminum. There is no real difference between brands. If you are asking about whisker pole handling system, that is on you to design and spec what will work.

Re: Whisker pole track

Hi,

I'm also installing a whisker pole this season.

This is not entirely true.

The crossbar of the “T” on 1 1/4 “imperial” T-track is 3/16'' thick; on metric track, it’s 1/4'' (6mm) thick. This means that most metric cars and fittings (Harken, Lewmar, Antal, Ronstan, Seldén) will fit on imperial track (Schaefer, Garhauer), but not vice-versa.

I would base your track election on the car that you already have and go from there. I got a forespar car for cheap (TS-125), which goes over an 'imperial' track (1 1/4''), so I'll probably get a Schaefer 1 1/4 track.

Good luck,
