Where and how to look for used spinnakers
We have a new Seawind 1160 with a main, jib and screecher and all of the hardware necessary for a supporting a spinnaker. Trade wind sailing is in the plan and I am being told we will need a symetrical or asymetrical spinnaker for downwind sailing. Since we already have 3 new sails and the spinakker will only be used when downwind sailing is a must, I was thinking a used spinnaker would be the way to go. How and where do you look for purchasing a used spinnaker? How do you judge whether it is in acceptable condition?

Try;
You can search their inventory by the boats spec's as manufactured, or by your own numbers. Bacon Sails Search Kiosk Great company, I have purchased from them at their store, and over the phone and they have taken good care of me.

Bacons is an excellent place to start. Their ratings for good will be excellent and excellent will be like new.

Aloha Tim,
This is a thread title, Stupid Spinnaker/Gennaker/KiteSpinnaker Question Try a search on the above thread in this forum and you'll find lots of answers to your question. Welcome aboard and good luck on your search for sails. I've done a search for "spinnaker" on eBay and have had really good luck. Kind Regards, JohnL |

Victory Cat,
Congrats, you've got a great boat. I think you might be better off investing in a new chute as opposed to buying a used one from a unimaran (multihuller humor phrase for monohull). The apparent wind angles on a cat differ from a monohull. You sail faster, particularly in a Seawind, for any given point of sail downwind or reaching. |
