Wha'd You Use to Replace Whisker Pole Lanyards ?

My lanyards are gone. I haven't been able to come up with anything workable. The hole is too small in the cast ends for a decent line. I was able to use a nicro press and small SS cable but it curls up so it's hard to grab (and the small line digs into the hand). Forespar doesn't provide them as a part number. My google searches turn up nothing. Must I be the only one that's stumped by this?
