Re: The Junk Rig

You might want to look up what Tom Colvin has to say about junk rigs. He's an American NA who has designed, build and sailed many types of boats, he has lots to say on the merits of the rig.

Re: The Junk Rig

Hello Gracies

I've been considering a junk rig conversion when I find a suitable boat (possibly damaged so as to save a few bucks) to convert for some time now. You can join junkrig*at*yahoogroups*dot*com - the forum has a wealth of info, with many current junk developers posting there (Annie posts there on a regular basis

Re: The Junk Rig

We bilt and sailed a junk rigged Colvin 42ftr schooner for over 20 years! easy to set, easy to reef ,easy to dump!! we did have a jib but it was not really nessary, but it helped to windward! We had no complaits with this rig! I wish we had them on our new boat !! cus we are gonna have to learn all over again !!LOL They are easy to sail with and for a single hander or a couple they can't be beat for cruiseing!! Just our 2 cents also look up a colvin that made a real quick sail to Vancouver from Hawyee back in the 70s I believe! as I remember he was a relative To Colvin.
