Storing Jib on Deck under Bow Pulpit Cover

I thought about having a bow pulpit cover made of Sunbrella that would slip over the pulpit and protect my jib from the sun. My sails hank on. Then I could leave everything rigged up and not have to bag up the sail everytime. I wouldn't store the sail year round..just during the summer months when we are going out a lot. I haven't noticed anyone else doing this. Am I missing something that would make this a bad idea?

USed to do this on my fathers boat. Bag had a hoop of webbing sewn in so you could hoist the bag off the deck so it didnt get covered with mud when cleaning the anchor chain.
