Starwind 19' Masthead Questions

I am rigging a 1985 Starwind and cannot make out what is going on at the masthead. The main halyard comes into the pulley and seems to go down inside the mast. I pull on it and it seems to be streching something. Is it going down inside the mast? There is no haylard coming out of inside the mast or slot for it to come out. May someone explain? I suppose I will step the mast and see if the main haylard comes out at the base but where is the slot for it to exit the mast?
The 1/8" fishing line to the left of the main haylard is part of the list of rigging parts but what it is doing here is unknown.

I found the hole. Thank you for a great site. Now I am on to rigging this to take blue water, at least from WPB to West End
