Spinnaker pole fitting attachment

So, this morning i purchased a 12 ft carbon fibre pole w/ harken jaw fittings on the ends...$200 bucks..to me seemed like bargain.... But now i noticed that i have one end that does not appear to be riveted.

Is that supposed to be like that or is that meant to free spin on purpose?

Re: Spinnaker pole fitting attachment

Nah- you got taken, mate! It's useless to you now, so just send me your pole and I'll dispose of it safely for you!
Jokes aside though, your beak ends should be screwed in, IMHO. The corrosion risk in riveting is too high, especially in an aftermarket/DIY situation, so 316 screws with loads of Tef Gel is the order of the day.
(You reeeeally sure you want to keep your pole?)
