Specifications for Mast Removal pricing

I have a 65" Kenyon aluminum keel stepped mast that is 26 years old and in reasonable condition (powder coated I think and not much deterioration except at the base-some bubbling of the paint). I have concerns about the mast step-not draining well and accumulated gunk within/under the step? Standing riggin was replaced in 2001 by PO. I do not contemplate re-rigging but might have part or all of the mast repainted. In an effort to control prices I would like to give a set of specifications to several riggers in an attempt to get a fixed price for removal, re-installation and inspection. I understand that repairs cannot be priced until removal. How should I describe the scope of work in my request for bids? What should I have done while it is out? Should I have all or just part of the mast repainted if the base needs repainting? Never had a mast pulled before and am new to the boat. Am I too naive to think the marine industry can give a fixed price?

Re: Specifications for Mast Removal pricing

Pitlaw, I would expect many response. It might be difficult to get a fixed price as there can be many things discovered once removed. The list is long....good luck....
