Shroud Chafe Cover using Hydraulic Hose Protectors

Hello -

I have a catamaran and I'd like to put some chafe protection on the shrouds (9/16") to protect my mainsail/battens.

I'm considering buying hydraulic hose protection plastic.

It's open enough that I dont think it would trap too much water, it's relatively cheap, and it's available here in southern Chile.

Anyone think this is a terrible idea?

Looks like a good idea. Is it UV resistant?
