This is what happened.
At the end of the last cruising season, September last year, I inadvertently let my halyard swivel drop heavily to boom height where of course it stopped. It so happens the ID of the swivel part is almost exactly the same as the OD of the short Locking tube that surrounds the tensioner at the bottom of the foil.
The latter became jammed inside the swivel and it all appeared to be one unit. Especially when I looked at it again this year. With the help of friends we did discover that the parts
should be separated. This was done but with difficulty, they were really stuck !
But then the locking tube would not slide down to it's proper position over the tensioning screw. More force required !
But now all is good.
