Seedless single reef line broke. How to replace?

Hello all,

I can't work this out for the life of me.
We have the Selden single reef line system on our 385. The line broke where the boom joins the mast and the line is now inside the boom. We need to replace this but can't work out how it's done.

There's a traveller inside the boom for this but how do you get to it? Please don't tell me we need to remove the whole boom to get to it? It looks riveted on there anyhow.

It's reef one that's gone.

Any ideas would be most welcomed.

Regards,
Simon

Sounds like you might want to try using an electrician's wire snake, maybe with some fish hooks taped or tied to the end, to fish the end of the line out of the boom. Pull it out the same way it is supposed to go in as far as you can and use it as a messenger for a new furling line. Not fun, but probably easier than taking the end plates and sheaves off the boom and trying to run lines through without a messenger.

Re: Seedless single reef line broke. How to replace?

Thanks all. In the end it was quite simple and pretty much as deceived above. It was the outhaul wire that I didn't release that was stopping the pulley cars from sliding.

All fixed now, thanks.
