Rigging Surveyor Detroit Area

Looking into buying a used sailboat and I have read all the recommendations about getting a survey and from talking to many surveyors, none of them survey the rig above eye level, & I have also read that it is highly recommended to have the standing rigging surveyed by a professional rigger or surveyor on an older boat. Would this survey be done up the mast by the rigger, or does rigging need to be taken down for the survey. The one place I had recommended to me in the Detroit area said take it down and send it to them. Do you suppose the owner would mind that . So what is one to do Anyone have any recommendations for Rigging Surveyors in the Detroit area?
Thanks in Advance

If possible I suggest that you lower the mast if possible. I bought my sailboat knowing she needed work but didn't see that there were broken wires toward the top of the back stay and upper shrouds. I only found our when I lowered the mast to inspect the bolt holes in the mast step. Thank Goodness I found the problem and replaced them. I could easily have lost my mast had one if them snapped. From the deck everything looked good. I heard of someone hoisting a camera fastened to a halyard.
