Rerigging a Maica

Hi,

I am in the process of changing from double spreader fractional to a slightly longer double spreader masthead rig using a secondhand spar, and I am considering using discontinuous rigging, which uses more bottle screws/terminals but less wire.

As the old stainless is under 5 years old I am going to reuse as much of it as possible.

Does anyone have experience of discontinuous rigging? In particular I have to fabricate the lower spreader ends which take the terminals for the lower cap shroud, the upper cap shroud, and the intermediate stay (which will run from lower spreader tip to upper spreader base.)

Thanks
Chris

re:- wire sizes, I know that one of the reasons for having discontinuous rigging is to be able to use lighter wire in places. I am using 8mm throughout because that is the size of my sta-loks and because I am intending to cruise not race.
