Removing front stay on B&R rig

I have to remove the front stay on my Hunter 44DS to allow it to be lifted front on, into the travel lift at our yard due to the large array of equipment on the rear of our yacht. Has any one done this? Is the support of a spinnaker halyard forward to a cleat sufficient to support this?

That's what I used for support while repairing my furler.

I use always doublé ropes, spi and Jib Halyard, just for peace of mind

I've never looked closely at a B&R rig... is the mast keel stepped? If so, I'd imagine it will stand on its own without any forestay or surrogate. I know that our swept back fractional rig will with no issues. In fact the PO and builder lost the rigging screw at the bottom of the forestay at sea (in the Arctic Ocean!) and didn't loose the mast. He said it was whipping about pretty briskly before he got a halyard rigged to the stemhead. Better him than me!

But really, why not ask Hunter? Surely they know!

The rig without forward support just come down, is like some short of multi rig in a monohull, the sweep back spreaders work in one direction but not in the other, without a babystay or inner forestay a spi halyhard or jib halyard prevent the mast to come down, try to reléase the forestay without any backing supp and i guarante 100% the mast fall down .. just saying, cheers...
