Re: Quick windlass disassembly

shaft corroded fast in the hollow gearbox outputshaft? just jamming because of offset weight of motor/gearbox? maybe lightly (!) tap shaft from the bottom, maybe heat it gently? motor/gearbox could be "glued-on" by to much & too strong a sealant?

Re: Quick windlass disassembly

I'm having the same issue.
Does that longinsh metal piece need to come out that fits into the bottom of the main shaft?
Item 17 in the diagram?

Re: Quick windlass disassembly

I have had the factory in Italy on the phone for disassembly instructions. He said that applying brute force is very common to get the shaft out of the gearbox because of salt water getting in there. Put something below the gearbox/engine assembly because it is unbelievably heavy and can cause damage when falling from some height. Remove the cabling so it can free fall but not on top of you.

Re: Quick windlass disassembly

Thanks for that!
Is the gearbox sealed?
I'm trying to work out why the motor died:
Either it died from age (10 years) or it died from struggles with the gearing on top of the weight of the chain.
Maybe another question. When the clutch nis disengaged, how freely should the chain be able to move? This one you have to pull it out, it's not a free flow

Thanks!
