Quality issues with SS 1 X 19 .........

As we all know much of today's production has migrated to Asia. Nothing against the good hard working folks in Asia, but I am curious about the quality of SS 1 X 19 wire rope.

Anyone have any first hand knowledge or experience with inferior quality issues?

If so......can it be isolated to a specific vendor? Specific grades (304,316)?

Any failures?

Interesting point, I just had my 27 year old lifelines replaced, the rep where I bought them told me that the new ones would unlikely last anywhere near as long as the old ones that I replaced did.

Re: Quality issues with SS 1 X 19 .........

That seems to be the word. Did he mention any specific issues? Or was he just lowering expectations?

I believe that most 1 X 19 SS is produced in Korea these days. I would imagine that there is some Chinese product out there as well. And worse is knock off product that I would be very wary of.

I have heard stories of corrosion issues on essentially new wire. And I have heard of some failures as well. I just can't seem to verify them or get any first hand knowledge and experiences……………

About to re-rig so pounding the pavement a bit for information.

Thanks.

I think there is still some high quality wire coming out of Denmark or Germany, but I can't remember for sure. I know it is getting harder and harder to find quality wire. You might try contacting Brion Toss and buy it from him. Price may be a little higher, but at least quality will be assured.
