Petersen twin foil feeder...

So, Insatiable has a venerable mid-80's vintage twin-foil system on the forestay. It is the Petersen type: Aluminium twin foil extrusion with a 2-part cast feeder.

The casting just broke... right up the T-section that devides the 2 feeders (which, apparently, is where they always break).

They stopped making this system in about 1990, but since I really don't have the cash for a new foil system, I would like to get hold of a replacement feeder if at all possible...

Any advice / help pointers appreciated...

If necessary, I will design my own and get it machined locally, but frankly, 1-off manufacturing is not a cheap solution.

A happy conclusion

So, not that anyone probably cares, but we appear to have a solution to the problem (and not before time - hoisting sails has been a pig for the last month, not to even mention peeling sails).

Here is the old feeder

You can see where the "T" shaped divider between the two feeders has fractured (along the narrowest part, of course". It is an aluminium casting, and pretty ancient, so it is not entirely unsurprising.

Here is the replacement, of my own design!

(yes, I need to cut off the lower bolts flush)

It is manufactured from 316 stainless. What you see is not the forestay, just a piece of 5/16" rod to simulate the forestay. It looks like our problem may be solved, and at a relatively cheap price.
