New Standing Rigging (west coast)
Aloha,
I live on Oahu and I have sourced out a manufacturer on the East Coast where I can get 19x1 shrouds for about $3/ft.
However, I would like to purchase the rigging from someone on the West Coast where it will ship at a lower cost to Hawaii.
Does anyone have any known sources on the West Coast/LA region where I can get quotes from?
Thanks!
Matt

What size? 19x1 304 from fisheries supply is .15/ft to 3.4/ft. There are many other options in Washington.

Mmmm. But 316 would be better if he's in HI. It won't require replacement as often.

Thought cost savings was a consideration

I have had Northwest Rigging in Anacortes, WA, make up cables, terminals, lifelines, etc. Service is very good and at reasonable price.

I think that West Marine Rigging could replace your existing standing rigging and ship it no charge to their Honolulu store by including it with the normal store replenishment order. Ask at the store or call the rigging shop directly.

+1. WM is matching or beating most advertised prices these days and if they ship it for free to (one of) their stores in Hawaii for you, that would be the best deal.

As a West Marine Associate, I can attest that the WM Rigging shop does great work. And ship to store is free. The Honolulu store address is 420 N Nimitz Hwy. Phone +1-808-526-4420

New Standing Rigging (west coast)
I have been very impressed with the knowledge and the quality from Pacific Offshore Rigging in San Diego.

Re: New Standing Rigging (west coast)
Another option is to buy the wire and some cone terminals and make them up yourself. It took me an afternoon to make the rigging for Carina (a cutter with a lot of rigging) when I first rigged her, and about the same to re-rig her when needed (at a great cost saving). If you don't plan on keeping the boat for long this may not be the lowest cost option but in the long run it pays for itself with the first re-rig. Quality cone terminals are very reliable; swaged terminals can be poorly done so if you go that way then go with an experienced rigger.

Re: New Standing Rigging (west coast)
Are Nelson's still in business on Oahu?? They used to have a stock of wire and swage machine to do rigging.
You can do it yourself with mechanical fittings like StaLoks. Order the wire from anywhere on the mainland, cut it to length here, and install. 304 will work fine but not as surface corrosion resistant but is stronger than 316 wire.
West marine might turn out to be the best way to get wire to the Islands. Their price was close to other mainland discount houses but shipping was way cheaper on paint I just ordered.

Re: New Standing Rigging (west coast)
Lisa at Port Townsend Rigging or Chuck Henson at West Marine's Rigging shop in Seattle. Either will fabricate to your specs.
For wire there is Fisheries Supply in Seattle.
