Re: Name this rack??

I'd call it excess windage.

Others just call it an "arch."

See, for example,

Re: Name this rack??

Great over view. And btw that 24 foot boat has been around the world! It’s named “Sockdolager” look it up. Spelling is critical. My boat is only 27 feet so I am looking for ways to get solar power to fit with very little room.

Re: Name this rack??

This is a Formula 1 / Indy 500 rear spoiler to get more down force aft at high speed sailing, so the rudder remains in the water when the wind blows into the sails....

Alan is right of course. There is one more but I am not sure of the precise website Ovi something. I was surprised to find out the atlantic towers arch is made of marine grade aluminum not the usual 316 stainless steel. They charge the usual high prices. It helps me to see the ideas about how to fit solar into my bigger picture. They have special curved on one side washers 4 for $69. Two bars to support the panels $199. Tooo much money! I may go with Sailrite’s idea of mounting fabric based solar panels on ordinary bimini hardware.

Thanks everyone. Now I need to find the other post about the three rules of Sailing!

My son bless his 30 year old brain remembered the forgotten last rule. 1) Beware The Lee Shore 2) Never Piss Into the Wind 3) Never Stand in a Bight.... 73 years of living should give more me information not less. The old sailors in Maryland taught me that and a lot knots.
