maxwell winches

hello I have just opened to service maxwell 23 and 26 winch, ?15 years old, and i was horrified to find corrosion.

the central internal post is cast aluminium, and is badly pitted. it was covered by a light ss jacket which appears to have boosted electrolysis. the post also seems to have seized with the uppermost bronze winch handle socket.

the 3 ss screws which secure the above and all bronze working parts to the bronze black base section are seized in place, and are having to be drilled out. they are VERY hard!

the bronze working parts and outer bronze sheet drum are in good order.

just wondering if anyone has parts, or requires parts?????

I recently did an overhaul of a 14 year old Maxwell windlass. All required parts were available through Maxwell. Have you tried contacting them , or any Maxwell dealers in your area?

unfortunately maxwell is now anchor windlass only, they disposed their sheet winches to ARCO australia, who do not reply to me and feature several other defunct non-maxwell brands. quandary!
