Re: MAXWELL 2200 Windlass Problem

Hi I'm new on here
But have been motoboating based on the south coast for over 20 years.
Now I'm on a Dutch barge based inland, but have a brand new never used
Maxwell 2200 hydronic windlass a work of art, it was installed but was wrapped
And is as new. I really don't know nothing about it, and believe it might not be suitable.

So I'm looking to find out either a manual, and how much they are new
And how much I would expect let's say appoloduck.

Just read this post, interesting stuff.

To be fair I may prefer a manual one

Any help and advice would be helpful

Col

Depending upon the size of your barge, you may find that the vertical capstan is perfect for warping the boat around, and, that you may need the size/horse-power. The beauty of the vertical windlass is that you can get a fair lead in any direction.

FWIW...

Many thanks for this info.
Our barge is 56 x 12 feet I imagine weight to be 25- 28 tons when it's all completed.

So is this a powerful bowthruster, on our other barge same size I had a vetus 12v. 75 kgf which to be fair worked, but that was on a canal grand union.
But I imagine strong tide or a windy day it be as much use as a plastic kettle.

Many thanks

Col

Re: MAXWELL 2200 Windlass Problem

I'm trying to find a manual on the maxwell 2200, is this the same as a vetus
Can I find the same info if I look for vetus 2200

And although the one I have is brand new, is it a current model?
Or is it old, and this is why. Cannot find manuals online?

Again thank you in advance

Top Banana!!!!😀👍

Thankyou so much GordMay

I'm having a read now, it's also that whether I stick and carry on installing the pipework, or just take it out and get a electric one, and sell this one.

Decisions decisions

Col. thankyou so much
