We have uncovered our boat from winter storage, and discovered a hole in the mast where the first spreaders are. The rivets have pulled out and the spreader plate went through the mast, leaving quite a large hole. We had to un step the mast before getting her back to Ontario when we bought her last fall. How would one repair this ?
We are devastated for having this happen.
Thank you for all responses.

Kind regards

You could have it patch welded or see if you can pick up a similar mast.

Re: mast repair

Sorry for your misfortune. Someone put a lot of pressure on the spreader to make that happen. Like maybe a dropped mast?

Yes, it can be repaired but you really need to send photos or contact a rigger. Probably a sleeve can be installed or maybe a patch on the outside. If welding is involved then get a professional to do it. Too much heating aluminum for welding weakens it.

I am assuming the mast is aluminum.

Replacement masts are very expensive.

Re: mast repair

It can be repaired, with a external sleeve in 2 pieces , some isomatspars have a internal aluminium piece conecting the 2 spreaders and a plate riveted outside.

My 2 cents the boatyard is involved with the damage...just saying..
