Grigris don't put wear on the rope. They're for descending only. I would love one, they're just a luxury item in terms of price compared to an ATC

Make sure you know how to use it first otherwise they can be a little unsafe.

I watched the video of it in use and I still could not figure it out.

Thankfully the guy who sold me the ascenders was more than happy to give me a demo of how to use them. I suggested the best demo would be if he popped down to the boat and grabbed the windvane while he was at it, but he was busy preparing to do much the same thing for the Lincoln race week. When he gets back I will ask him about the descender.
