Mast base

The aluminum mast base of the deck stepped mast had corroded to a degree that it had to be cut off when the mast was unstepped. I do not know the manufacturer of the rig. I sent pictures and dimensions to five rigging manufacturers, none could help me. Presently I am considering to have a new one machined.
Am I overlooking an obvious source or a different solution?

Re: Mast base

Peter,

I agree with Vasco, but it looks like you are a new user, so may not be able to post pictures yet. Can you at least post dimensions and a general description of the shape (is it a pure oval, flat front, ...)? Also, what type of boat, where from, etc.?

Also, do you have access to Flickr or anything similar where you could post pictures and give us a link while getting to the point of posting pictures?

BTW, welcome, lots of people here so you may have some luck.

I'm betting Famet.

Re: Mast base

I own a Corbin 39, built 1981. I always thought the rig had been built in Annapolis, MD.
It is an oval base, measuring 8 7/8" x 5 1/2" x 1 13/16". The base plate is 3/8" thick.
I do not know how to post pictures.

Re: Mast base

Is Rig-Rite one of the places you sent information to?

Rig-Rite Inc. - Masts, Booms, Spars, Rigging, and Hardware for Sailboats.

They list two different sections for the Corbin 39, and IsoMat NG70 and and a MetalMast 9461, but neither of those match your dimensions. They also make custom bases if they don't have one for your section available.

They're the best place I know for identifying, sorry if you've already been there. Hard to work with just the dimensions, but someone here may have a Corbin and more information.

Peter, try going to photobucket.com. You can get a free account, then upload your photos there (it's a single click). You can then copy the link to the photo in your post.

Re: Mast base

My thanks to everyone who chimed in. I decided this AM to discuss it with the Manager of Derecktor Boatyard, Mamaroneck. He promised me a new base at reasonable cost for next week.
