Looking for Winch Handles
I need new winch handles as I only
have one now.
Anybody have good ideas as to
where and what to get?

Re: Looking for Winch Handles
This is one of the easiest items to get from any shop that sells sailing equipment. West Marine for sure and they are all over California, and on line. Defenders, Jamestown, et al

Re: Looking for Winch Handles
Winch handles are carried at most sailing equipment stores -- but not all winches use the common/modern handles. We carry a bronze flat winch handle by Wilmex for traditional winches, for example, here https://schoonerchandlery.com/shop/m...dle-stw-ii-250
Fair winds,

Re: Looking for Winch Handles
Lewmar One Touch! Though your boat is small enough you might be able to get by with the plastic floaty ones. At Least when you drop the plastic ones, you don't ding your gel coat.

My wife is compact and with relatively small hands. As a "boat present", I bought the Harken Carbo one-hander. It wasn't cheap, but it works as advertised and it makes getting the handle in and out of the winch jiffy quick.

Re: Looking for Winch Handles
How about a long two handed one, does such a thing exist?
Or at least a long handle if not, I can only find the same length 8-10"

+1 on the Lewmar one-touch. We love ours, would never go back to the old style.

Re: Looking for Winch Handles
I just bought a nice new floating winch handle on ebay for $30 bucks free shipping . It's a Sea-Dog brand 8" , for $2 bucks more you can get a 10" .

Re: Looking for Winch Handles
This will make everybody cringe - but I got 2 cheapos on Amazon for the price of one at West Marine; and had money left over for beer. Sure the ratchet dog falls off after a couple weeks, but it still does the job and I have a spare for WHEN it falls overboard! I am a cruiser and I don't need $100 winch handles!
Don't overthink this shipmate!

If he is not worried about looks, a socket breaker bar may work.

Which winch? Minney's in Costa Mesa has a ton of old stuff if you are trying to find an old one.

Wolf's Marine In Benton Harbor Michigan. They will ship to you. Ask for photos. They always have a variety of NOS handles in really nice SS & bronze to floating plastic. One & two hand. Home Page There are a couple there that are old school collector's items. Shelves 14 & 15. The listing on their page only shows modern standard stuff. More than 90% of their inventory is not on the site. ASK. Huge selection of winches and other sail hardware too. This is all day entertainment if you happen into the area.

I'm not worried about looks, but that
might be pretty awkward.
