lewmar web blocks

Have been given 3 lewmar web blocks that need some sort of fixing by strap or rope. Any body know how to attach these? I have two 90mm ones and one that's 130mm.

Which blocks? Most of the web blocks just use standard stainless shackles.

Re: lewmar web blocks

Cant find them on Lewmar webb site but where you would put a shackle its all aluminium and shackle would destroy anodizing. Looks like it would take a strop of some sort. Have seen some where a strop that has a toggle on one end that goes thru a loop on other end but not sure these would be up to task as block looks capable of some pretty high loads.
Bit unusual but will find a use for them some where as turning block or something.

These are Lewmars newer version of web blockshttp://www.lewmar.com/store?field_block_type[]=203&lf=0&lt=4&f=1&o=d<-- Paste the whole bits of text in bold into your browser window, as Lewmar's link doesn't work correctly.
Here are a few more examples http://www.apsltd.com/catalogsearch/...wmar+web+block

Sadly, they look less versatile than the old style. But there are multiple types of attachments that you can use for them, depending on how they're configured. Spectra or standard webbing, Spectra strops, Spectra tie on's/lashings, pre-fab Loops, Spectra soft shackles, etc.

The key thing in rigging them is to make sure that the loads created by the lashings, strops, or Loops are properly aligned with the block's strengths. Which can be ascertained via the manufacturer's literature, or contacting them.

There are some good examples of how to tie in blocks both if you look up Loops, as well as seeing how some of the old Harken web blocks were/are rigged. And other than the afore mentioned idea sources, you can visit www.APSltd.com & a few other rigging sites, in addition to calling, or emailing any of them.

Hope that helps.

Do you have pictures? Web blocks are a range, so they could be anything from cheek blocks to backstay cascades it just depends on which ones.
