Lewmar 48ST Issue

My port side jib sheet winch gets almost impossible to turn in low speed or high while under load. The Starboard side winch works fine under the same conditions. I have torn both winches down and do not see any issues with gears, bearings, or springs. Under light to moderate load I don't really notice a difference until the wind picks up or I try to get close hauled.
Any ideas on what to look for next time I tear the winch down? Thanks

Not familiar with ST48s, but is the contact point of the sheet to drum directly on the gear cluster which drives the drum. It makes a difference. Depending on where your closest sheet lead block is to the winch, one side will have the gear cluster inboard, the other side, outboard.
