lazyjacks configuration

My boat had lazyjacks installed previously, but no longer .Small padeyes are still on mast and boom, but nothing else.Am vaguely familiar with rope setup but not sure.I think rope loops under boom fore and aft and is looped through rigging eye half way up to mast padeye, then a single rope up to fixed attachment on one side and to adjustable halyard on other.Does this sound right? Can adjustable rope just slide freely through eye without chafing?
