Keeping batten cars in mast

Hello all, I own a mk.i C&C 25 and hoisting the main sail is always a two-man operation simply because one person must guide the batten cars back into the mast.

They seems to fall out every time the main sail is lowered. Is there a good solution for this? Or simply cover the opening to prevent them from being able to evacuate the mast?

Thanks for any input!

Do you mean the batten cars disconnect from the track? have you not got a "gate" to prevent this

Yes, there should be a gate for this. Have you not got a small section missing or is there not a stopper at the bottom of the slide that is missing?

That's it! I'm missing a mast gate. That makes a lot of sense, I was thinking that there was no way that that was normal every time you hoist the sails.

Thank you so much!

Take a look at
MetalMast Mainsail Gates
They have a number of different types. For a boat your size a thumb screw type would probably be fine.
