John Adam Windpilot

Some time ago I acquired a John Adam WindPilot and I fitted it to my Puzzle 36 for the voyage from Croatia to the UK. I had little opportunity to use it as for the majority of the time the winds, if any, were unfavourable but it worked well when I did. Even crossing the Bay of Biscay there was no chance of using it as it was as flat as a pancake with zero wind.

As my long voyage days are over I have no need of the Windpilot but I have no idea of its value. Its in great condition and all the parts are there with the exception of the fixing bolts. You can see the item here:

If someone wants to make a sensible offer or just give me an idea of it's value, I would much appreciate it.

Thanks

Re: John Adam Windpilot

These are good units well made in SS and reinforced plastics. Usable and repairable. We have one too.

The cheapest reasonable alloy windpilot is now in the range of EUR 1500.

I would guess a unit like yours is worth in the area of EUR 1000.

Cheers,
b.
