Identify line

Hi,
I’m new to this forum, and this is my first post.
I recently purchased some 3/4” line from a private party. I intend to use some of it for mooring pennants. However I want to identify the line so I can properly splice an eye for the thimble.
The line has a braided cover and a core of parallel strands. The core’s strands are enclosed in another braid. The “Sta-Set X” by New England Ropes is the closest match I’ve found so far, but it’s core consists of a flat spiral wrap around the parallel strands whereas mine is a flat 3 strand braid. ( I just tried to attach a photo, but haven’t figured out how yet.) Any guesses?

Re: Identify line

I'd check if the core is spectra (or similar) by burning it - from the little that I know these fibers do not burn. If it is spectra, I'd be tempted to not use if for mooring (due to lack of elasticity). Keep is as spare, general purpose line and get some 3-strand for your mooring. Just my 2c.
