pirate I Need a Boom

Hi all; it's been a while since I've connected with my fellow sailors. I've spent the last few years completing a project C&C36R. I raised the headsail last summer and now am ready to rig the mainsail. To do this, I need a 12 foot boom. Can anyone help me acquire one???

Re: I need a Boom

look on EBay I bought one for my 40' boat for 50 bucks, cost another 150 in shipping but it is a good ZSpar boom that was a perfect fit. Total cost was not bad compared to new!

You could also try used sail boat equipment dealers, there is a boom on Latatude 38 right now, but at 17.5 feet too long. Rigging shops some times have used booms and masts kicking around. Boat movers with storage yards also get this kind if thing off of boats that are abandoned in their yards. Hope this gives you some ideas. I bought mine from a classified add on Latitude 38, 12 years ago. not sure where you are located, but I know of several places in California where you could call and inquire.

Re: I Need a Boom

I have two wooden booms on my Hans Christian. They are both over 35 years old and function perfectly. If you're a wood guy, making one shouldn't cost you very much.

Re: I Need a Boom

If you are on the West coast..."Minney's". otherwise call mast makers and ask if they have old booms in their junk pile or take a broken mast from a race boat and make a boom out of it. I have done that and it looked like I knew what I was doing. It's not rocket science....just boat science...
