Help with names...

What is the name for a storage compartment on deck, in front of the wheel house? Lazarette?

Re: Help with names...

Its that simple? lol The reason Im asking, other that I dont know, is that Im going to put one in. I want to also use it as a bench so I would like a lockable flush hatch that extends all the way to the forward edge so it will drain towards the front. I cant find one.

sounds like if you want to use it as a bench then it is a "raised locker",a "well" would be below deck level and the lid flush'ish with the deck.

Re: Help with names...

When our daughter was little she couldn't remember the word lazarette so she called it the lazy thing. We call it the lazy thing to this day. You can always make something up if you can't remember it.

That's the box you put the foredeck into when it's not in use.

Re: Help with names...

Does it have cold beer in it? If it doesn't it is called "useless extra storage".

Re: Help with names...

On the other hand, you could call it "deck clutter", too.

However, the term, "deck box" is certainly understandable, and for sailorboy1, maybe we could make it insulated, with ice & beer, and then it'd be a deck ice box.

Cheers, guy,

Ann
